My Neighborhood Report Card

My Neighborhood Name: Longfellow

My Neighborhood Description: My neighborhood is from 37th & Hiawatha to 27th & 34th S. It is a very nice neighborhood.

1. Public Services (parks, libraries, schools)
Grade: C
Comments: There aren’t many of them around but the ones that we do have are nice. Like Longfellow Park and school and the Roosevelt library.

2. Transportation (access to bike routes, bus and train, main streets, and highways)
Grade: A
Comments: My neighborhood has a lot of bus routes main streets & highways. Also we are close to the train.

3. Retail Services (groceries, pharmacies, coffee shops, banks, restaurants and more)
Grade: B
Comments: there are lots of grocery stores like cub and rainbow Walgreen's banks and food places.

4. Safety (violent and nonviolent crime, shots fired, predatory offenders, and pedestrian safety)
Grade: B+
Comments: Crimes happen but rarely.

5. Nuisances (airport noise, pollution, and odors)
Grade: A
Comments: no noises, or odors

6. Demographics (diversity, homeownership, education, income, and poverty)
Grade: B
Comments: not very diverse a lot of homeownership and high income.

7. Areas for Improvement: Put in more parks libraries and schools

8. What I like best about my neighborhood: its very calm not very much crime

9. What I’d Most Like to See for My Neighborhood: For there to be some improvements like putting in more parks, schools and libraries.

  1. On the north side of lake street, there is a great park called Bracket Park. Also the greenway runs through Longfellow (its actually the border between Longfellow and Seward neighborhoods at some points). Its great because you can hop right off the greenway and bike down to bracket field and park!
